Reporting on the UAE's Hague Apostille Convention status is inconsistent, and we'd rather tell you that plainly than guess. In practice, UAE authorities have historically required full authentication (sometimes called legalization) rather than a simple Apostille, so that's the process we plan around unless you confirm otherwise with the receiving institution.
Where a destination country isn't a confirmed Hague Apostille member, documents typically need a fuller authentication chain instead: notarization, then authentication by Global Affairs Canada, then legalization by the destination country's embassy or consulate. Because requirements for the UAE can change and vary by emirate and by receiving institution, we always recommend confirming the current requirement directly with the receiving office in the UAE, or with the UAE embassy, before your appointment.
